Thanks to Covid, we performed Gianni Schicchi outside, in the church grounds. We were fortunate with the weather (thanks goodness we didn’t try to hold our opera festival this August!) but we wondered how you felt about the event.

We are having so much fun preparing our first opera in two years – we seem to be spending as much time laughing in rehearsals and we do singing! As we approach two weeks before opening night we want to introduce you to the cast of Gianni Schicchi

Firstly we present our creative team - our Stage Director and our Musical Director.

The return of the SPO’s summer opera festival is a much-awaited event in the heart of Clapham Old Town. This year, the opera production will be stage in the open air in the natural theatre space of the Lower Churchyard, with additional incidental vocal music to be found around the grounds of the church throughout the evening, alongside the regular community picnic in the church’s front garden.

With hopeful news of a release from Lockdown we have been able to look to the summer and begin planning our summer Opera Festival – we simply couldn't go another year without bringing you an operatic production from SPO!
