Carmen auditions open
The call is out for singers for SPO’s 2023 summer festival – Carmen. Auditions will be held at the end of this month (January). See all the details below.
‘Dream Team’ announced to direct CARMEN
2022 is almost done for St Paul’s Opera (SPO) but we have one more hugely important job to complete and that is to tell you what’s happening next year.
Our 2023 summer production will be Bizet’s Carmen.
We know this is going to be a big hit with both our audience and, most importantly, the immensely talented singers who will want to be a part of this. Audition details will be announced early in the New Year.
STOP PRESS – LOVE AND WAR POSTPONED
Unfortunately our lovely soprano, Tanya Hurst, has lost her voice so we have had to postpone tomorrow’s (Friday, 25th November) concert. We did investigate other options, but finding another soprano who knew the repertoire…
Love and War blog from Louis and Tanya Hurst
A few days ago we enjoyed a most convivial evening with the operatic husband and wife duo, Louis and Tanya Hurst, enjoying food and wine together (something dear to both our hearts), and chatting about their operatic lives together, including their involvement in the ENO’s productions of Tosca and Yeomen of the Guard…
Enjoy a Grimm Christmas with SPO!
Hansel and Gretel are very, VERY hungry. When their mother sends them out into the forest one evening to collect berries for tea, they don’t notice the night closing in around them, and they lose their way.
Love and marriage, opera style
We are delighted to be bringing you something a little different in the New Year. SPO favourites, husband and wife team Louis and Tanya Hurst, have put together a remarkable gala evening designed to show how tempestuous it is being married to an opera singer!
It's time for some Musical Mirth
It is a massive understatement to say that we are delighted to return to our regular autumn gala – the last time we staged such an event was back in 2019, and we all know what came next!
Earlier this year we presented the Big Birthday Bash where the focus was on repertoire that made us laugh and smile.
Did you see this review?
If you follow us on social media you might have seen this very positive review of Albert Herring from Planet Hugill - a favourite website for many productions of an operatic nature.
Fond memories of Albert Herring
From our sell out performances of Albert Herring, please take a little time to enjoy the photographs of both main and cover casts. This team of highly talented musicians have been feeling the post-production blues and these photos have been a marvellous link to the great time we all had putting together our own Albert Herring.
Box office opens for Albert Herring - Update
Summer is nearly here and rehearsals for our 2022 Opera Festival are in full swing. We are staging three performances of Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring from 7-9 July at our home, St Paul’s Church, Rectory Grove, Clapham.
